Why we built this
You can add a room. You can add a clinician. You can’t get back an afternoon or a Sunday evening.
I practice medicine daily and run busy clinics, so I understand how easily clinical work spills beyond the consultation itself. A letter needs dictating. A note needs completing. A result needs chasing. And behind each one someone has to work out what happens next and get it to the right person.
None of these tasks are large on their own. Across a full clinic, they become the afternoon.
We built medspec to give your time back. A smarter way of working from creation to completion.
It begins with the document. Medspec can work from traditional clinical dictation, an ambient consultation or text that has already been written. It then prepares the letter, clinical note or report in the clinician’s usual structure, level of detail and language.
But creating the document is only part of the job. What happens next matters just as much.
Clinical work also involves identifying follow-up actions, assigning tasks and making sure the finished document is sent or filed. Medspec is being built to keep those steps connected and to fit alongside the clinical systems your practice already uses.
It is also important to be clear about what Medspec does not do.
It does not replace clinical judgement. Every document and suggested action remains a draft until an authorised clinician or team member reviews it. The clinician decides what is correct, what should be changed and what should happen next.
That is not a limitation of the platform.
It is the point.
Although Medspec began from our own experience in the clinical practice, the underlying problem is shared across healthcare. Doctors, dentists, allied health clinicians, nurses, practice managers and administrative teams all carry parts of the documentation and follow-through that sit around patient care.
Our aim is to give those teams a practical Australian platform that reduces repetitive work without removing professional control.
If Medspec gives a clinician more time to think, gives a practice team more time to help patients, or simply allows someone to finish the day when the clinic finishes, then it is doing what it was built to do.
About Dr Jithin Sajeev
Dr Jithin Sajeev is a consultant cardiologist and part of the cardiac electrophysiology team at Eastern Health. He has an established private practice for general cardiology and cardiac rhythm management in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Jithin graduated from medical school at the University of Otago, New Zealand, and moved to Melbourne to undertake his clinical and fellowship training. He has further academic and subspecialised clinical fellowship experience in the management of cardiac arrhythmia and cardiac device therapy. He is actively involved in research and completed a PhD focused on the role of atrial arrhythmias in stroke, with local and international conference presentations and publications stemming from his work.
Dr Sajeev approaches medical care as a partnership between the patient and the clinician. He strives to inform his patients about their condition to facilitate shared management decisions.
He works extensively across the eastern suburbs of Melbourne in both public and private settings, performing cardiac procedures and providing acute inpatient care at Eastern Health, Knox Private Hospital and Epworth Eastern Hospital.
